THE CALLING

Video Installation, Germany/Estonia, 2023 – Color, Stereo

The video installation "The Calling" intertwines calls, songs, charms, and spells that were used for farm animals with footage of young women living with rescued farm animals.

“In the olden days, when they were teaching oxen to plow the land, the plowman would cut a flock of his hair and make three circles with it around the ox’s head, saying: You shall be as I am. Then the ox was as wise as the man.”
(Text taken from Eesti Loitsud by Mare Koiva)
