Audio Description
Angelika is a professional audio describer, she works for AUDIO2, among others; she trained at the Hörfilmakademie Berlin (7-month training program) in collaboration with Nicolai Produktion and has since been working as a freelance audio description author.
An audio description is an audible narration of visual impressions, enabling blind and visually impaired individuals to engage with films, theater performances, operas, or even museum and exhibition visits.
Angelika is a member of Hörfilm e.V., an association of German-speaking audio describers
dedicated to improving access to visual media, art, and culture for visually impaired and blind people.
She continues to expand her expertise in creative audio description at institutions like tanzhaus nrw Düsseldorf. There, she collaborates with a group of dancers and visually impaired individuals to explore innovative approaches to creative audio description.
In her work, Angelika seeks to investigate and expand the aesthetics of accessibility in film art. Her award-winning short film "Der beste Weg" demonstrates this commitment, where accessibility was not an afterthought but an integral part of the creative process from the outset.
